That’s because many observers don’t expect a new iPhone will be unveiled. The Cupertino company’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference is about software. The rumors seem to suggest that there will be more changes in the iPhone 3.0 software than in the hardware.
One of the biggest rumors swirling around the imminent iPhone 3GS is whether or not it will have video chatting capabilities. It may even be called the “iPhone Video” or “iPhone 3GS” and have FM broadcast/receive capabilities.
Steve Jobs comes on stage to massive applause from the developers and the rest of the Apple staff. He looks a lot thinner than last time we saw him. Steve thanks everyone for coming, and says they’ve actually sold out WWDC and couldn’t find a bigger venue to hold this. Over 1000 Apple engineers on site to interact with developers. “It’s going to be one of the best WWDCs ever.”
Apple’s started the iPhone SDK developer program 95 days ago, and had 250,000 kits downloaded, 25,000 apply to the program, and 4,000 admitted to the program.
